1 Samuel 1-Trust God in the Waiting
Read 1 Samuel 1:27-28
Today’s Truth
Hannah’s story is one of deep sorrow turned into joyful surrender. For years, she faced the pain of barrenness while enduring the taunts of her rival, Peninnah. Despite her grief, Hannah responded not with bitterness but with persistent prayer.
In her brokenness, Hannah poured out her heart before the Lord, making a vow to dedicate her child if God answered her prayer (1 Samuel 1:10-11). God heard her plea, and in time, Samuel was born — a child destined to play a key role in Israel’s history. Yet what’s remarkable is that Hannah remained faithful to her vow. She willingly returned Samuel to the Lord, entrusting her most precious gift back to God.
Hannah’s faith reminds us that God is always working in our waiting. Her story teaches us that our prayers are not in vain — even if the answers take time. More importantly, Hannah’s willingness to surrender Samuel reveals a heart that trusted God more than she clung to her own desires.
