1 Samuel 10-Anointed for a Purpose

Read 1 Samuel 10:1
Today’s Truth

In 1 Samuel 10, Saul is anointed as Israel’s first king. This anointing wasn’t just a symbol—it was a divine calling. Though Saul initially doubted himself, God confirmed his calling through signs and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Just like Saul, God calls each of us for a purpose. He equips us with everything we need to fulfill His plan. However, like Saul, we may struggle with self-doubt, fear, or hesitation. But when God calls, He also provides His Spirit to guide, strengthen, and empower us.

Discussion Questions
  • Do you ever feel unqualified for what God is calling you to do? How can you trust Him more?
  • How has the Holy Spirit equipped or guided you in past situations?
  • What steps can you take today to walk boldly in God’s calling for your life?
Application

Lessons from this passage:

God’s calling is intentional – Saul didn’t choose this role; God chose him. In the same way, God has a purpose for each of us.

The Holy Spirit empowers us – When God calls, He equips. Saul’s transformation came when the Spirit of God came upon him (v. 6).

Trust in God, not your own abilities – Saul initially hid from his calling (v. 22), but God had already given him everything he needed. We must trust in God’s power, not our own strength.

If God is calling you to something, trust that He will equip you for it. You are anointed for a purpose!
