1 Samuel 17-Facing Giants with Faith

Read 1 Samuel 17:45
Today’s Truth

1 Samuel 17 tells the famous story of David and Goliath. While the Israelite army trembled in fear before the giant, David stepped forward in faith. He didn’t rely on weapons or physical strength but on the power of God. His confidence was not in himself, but in the Lord’s ability to bring victory.

This story reminds us that we all face giants—challenges that seem impossible to overcome. It could be fear, doubt, financial struggles, broken relationships, or illness. Like David, we are called to trust in God rather than our own abilities. When we step out in faith, God fights on our behalf and brings victory.

Discussion Questions
  • What challenges in your life feel like “giants”?
  • How can you shift your focus from fear to faith?
  • Where has God already proven Himself faithful in your past battles?
Application

Lessons from this passage:

Fear Paralyzes, but Faith Moves Forward – The Israelite army saw Goliath’s size and retreated, but David focused on God’s power and stepped forward. (1 Samuel 17:24-26)

God Prepares Us in the Small Things – Before fighting Goliath, David had already trusted God while protecting sheep from lions and bears. Our small acts of faith prepare us for greater battles. (1 Samuel 17:34-37)

Victory Belongs to the Lord – David declared that the battle was not his, but God’s. When we trust Him, He fights for us. (1 Samuel 17:47)

What giants are you facing today? Don’t let fear stop you—trust in God’s power. Remember, victory isn’t about how strong you are, but how great your faith is in the One who fights for you.
