Are You Ready to Go?

Read Acts 8
Today’s Truth

Occasionally, we encounter someone with an incredible passion for the Gospel, and we wonder what makes them different. We might assume they're naturally more enthusiastic or driven. And while that might be true in some cases, it's never the full explanation.

A passion that lasts over the long haul, that survives under pressure stems from a deep understanding of what Jesus has done. This knowledge transforms a person from the inside out.

Discussion Questions
  • What does this passage teach us about God? How does it apply to you?
  • How has the Gospel changed you? How has it changed what you talk about?
  • Can a person know Jesus and not want to tell others about Him? Why or why not?
Application

The believers in Acts were undergoing tremendous persecution. They could be killed for speaking about Jesus, yet “those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went” Acts 8:4. Not even death could prevent the early church from sharing the Gospel with the world.

To see the Gospel spread and lives changed, we need to do more than pray. We need to go! The only reasonable response to all Jesus' has done for us is to share the hope we have found.

In Acts 8,  Philip was so passionate about the good news he ran up to an Ethiopian’s chariot. The Holy Spirit said "Go!" and Philip went, knowing that any initial awkwardness is worth it when the Holy Spirit is involved. Bold moves like Philip's are a challenge to all of us. Are we willing to run with the Gospel, literally and metaphorically?
