Joshua 14 introduces Caleb as he steps forward to claim the inheritance promised to him decades earlier. Caleb’s life is a testimony of faith, perseverance, and confidence in God’s Word. At 85 years old, Caleb still trusted God to fulfill His promises, and he boldly asked for the hill country that had been promised to him.
This chapter challenges us to trust in God’s promises, remain steadfast in our faith, and boldly pursue the work He has called us to, regardless of our age or circumstances.

Application
Trust God’s Promises, No Matter How Long It Takes: Caleb had waited 45 years for the promise God made to him when he spied out the land as one of the 12 spies (Numbers 14:24). Despite the long delay, he never doubted that God would fulfill His Word.
Faithfulness Brings Reward: Caleb’s faithfulness to God set him apart. He fully followed the Lord, and as a result, he was granted the inheritance of Hebron. “I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.” (Joshua 14:8)
Bold Faith Claims God’s Promises: At 85 years old, Caleb boldly declared: “Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day.” (Joshua 14:12)
Despite the challenges, including fortified cities and giants in the land, Caleb trusted that God would give him the victory.
