“God Builds in Hidden Places”-1 Samuel 22
Read 1 Samuel 22:2
Today’s Truth
David is still running for his life. He hides in the cave of Adullam—and instead of an army of warriors, God sends him a group of distressed, indebted, and discontented men. David becomes their leader. Meanwhile, Saul’s paranoia grows worse, and he commits a terrible injustice by killing the priests at Nob.
This chapter shows two kings forming:
- David — Humble beginnings in a cave, learning to lead the broken.
- Saul — A downward spiral into fear, anger, and destruction.
Discussion Questions
- Have you ever felt like you were in a “cave” season — hidden, stuck, or forgotten?
- What might God be trying to build in you during times of waiting or hardship?
- Are there “distressed and broken” people around you that God might be calling you to lead, encourage, or serve?
Application
Today, embrace your “cave season” if you’re in one.
Instead of rushing out of it, ask: “Lord, what do You want to form in me here?”
Look around for someone who feels forgotten or broken.
Invite them to coffee, send a text of encouragement, or simply listen.
God often builds His greatest leaders by teaching them to love messy people first.
