Living in the Land-Deuteronomy 26 and 27

Read Deuteronomy 26:1-4
Today’s Truth

Deuteronomy 26 continues with the presentation of laws and rules for living in the land. All those who are the Lord’s children must follow His decrees, and He will provide for them. The Lord promised His chosen people that if they follow His rules, they will prosper.

In Deuteronomy 27, Moses looks ahead to a covenant ceremony after Israel has arrived in the Promised Land. He commands the people to set up an altar for sacrifices and a place to write these laws.

Discussion Questions
  • Do you give your first fruits to God? Why or why not? Why is it important?
  • How has God kept his promises to you?
  • Why is following God’s commandments so necessary?
Application

There was a division of the tribes between two mountains. In this ceremony, Israel hears the blessings and curses for keeping or breaking the law. This ceremony stood as a witness between the Lord and Israel that they agreed to the terms of the covenant between them. God keeps his promises.
