The Privilege of Being with Jesus
Read Mark 3
Today’s Truth
You are appointed. Called as a follower of Christ, to be with Christ. This is first and foremost. This is fundamental. You and I, just think about this wherever you are right now, if you’re a follower of Jesus, you are appointed by God to be with God, called by Jesus, to be with Jesus, to spend time with Jesus, to hear his word, to meditate on what He has said, to lift your heart to Him in prayer, just to be with Him.
You can be forgiven of your sin. You can be reconciled to a relationship with God. And you can be with Him. You can know God. You can know God forever. Mark 3:14 Reminds Us How Jesus Has Sent Us
Discussion Questions
- What does “being with Jesus” look like in your daily life right now? How intentional are you about this?
- How can we guard against doing ministry or service for Jesus without first spending time with Him?
- What are some practical ways we can deepen our relationship with Jesus this week?
Application
Discipleship begins with being with Jesus before doing for Jesus.
In Mark 3:14, Jesus calls the disciples first to be with Him—before preaching, healing, or casting out demons. Our first calling is to relationship, not activity. Out of this relationship flows our mission. We cannot effectively serve others if we are not regularly spending time with Him.
Challenge: Prioritize presence over performance. Make space in your daily life to simply be with Jesus—through prayer, Scripture, silence, and worship.
