“Trusting God’s Guidance, Even in Danger”-1 Samuel 23
Read 1 Samuel 23:4
Today’s Truth
David continues his life on the run. He saves the town of Keilah from the Philistines after asking God for guidance. But soon after, he learns Saul is coming to trap him there. Again, David seeks God’s direction—and God warns him. David escapes, and Jonathan finds him to strengthen his hand in God. Meanwhile, Saul continues to pursue David relentlessly, but God protects David again and again.
In danger, confusion, and fear, David keeps asking, listening, and obeying. When life is uncertain, God’s voice is steady.
Discussion Questions
- When you’re under pressure, what do you normally do first — react or seek God’s guidance?
- Why do you think David kept asking God even when things didn’t immediately get easier?
- Is there a decision or situation right now where you need to slow down and ask God first?
Application
Today, practice asking God before acting.
Before you make a decision (big or small), pray: “God, what would You have me do?” and listen quietly for a moment.
Strengthen someone else’s faith today.
Like Jonathan did for David, text, call, or pray with someone who’s tired or discouraged.
“You will not be caught—God’s hand is with you.” (23:17 paraphrase)
When we ask, listen, and encourage others, we become part of God’s rescue plan—just like David and Jonathan.
