Salt & Light - Core Values of GracePlace

Salt and Light-An Introduction

Summary

Over the next few weeks, we are going to be looking at what are our core values as a church moving forward. As a church of refuge, our calling is not just to be a shelter, but to be seasoning for bland lives — hope in heavy times, light in long nights. Salt and light aren’t just nice words. They’re our identity. The real question is: are we reflecting that light clearly and sharing that salt freely, or have we started to blend in with the darkness and lost our distinct flavor?

Sermon Questions
  1. When have you tasted food that needed more salt or walked into a dark room without a flashlight? How did that experience help you understand Jesus’ words?
  2. Jesus warns about salt losing its saltiness. What causes Christians to lose their distinctiveness in the world
  3. Jesus says, “Let your light shine before others.” What are practical ways we can do that without pride or performance?
  4. What is one step you can take this week to live more boldly as salt and light?
  5. What is one area of your life where God is calling you to shine more brightly?
