Judges 2 – Dangers in Forgetting God

Read Judges 2:10-12
Today’s Truth

Judges 2 is a sobering chapter in Israel’s history. After Joshua’s generation passed away, the people forgot the Lord and turned to false gods. The faith that had led them to victory was not passed down, and compromise led to spiritual decline.

This reminds us of the importance of spiritual legacy. If we do not intentionally teach the next generation about God’s goodness, they may grow up without knowing Him personally. We must remain faithful in sharing our testimony, living out our faith, and prioritizing God in our daily lives.

Discussion Questions
  • What happened after Joshua’s generation passed away (Judges 2:10-12)? What are some ways we can “forget God” in our daily lives, even without realizing it?
  • Why did the Israelites turn away from God and worship other gods? How does this passage challenge you to be more intentional in passing down your faith to the next generation?
  • How did God respond to Israel’s disobedience and idolatry (Judges 2:14-15)? Have you ever experienced a cycle of drifting away from God and needing His mercy? How did He bring you back?
Application

How Can We Stay Faithful?

Remember God’s Works – Take time to reflect on and share how God has worked in your life.

Teach the Next Generation – Be intentional in passing down faith through discipleship, family devotions, and mentorship
