Passage: Zephaniah 3:14-20

Summary

Zephaniah prophesied during a time of great idolatry and corruption in Judah. The people had turned away from God, and judgment loomed over them. However, in the midst of this despair and the lack of spiritual connection with God and with each other, Zephaniah offers a glimmer of hope pointing towards God’s faithfulness and ultimate restoration.

Sermon Questions
  1. Do you find it easy or hard to connect with other people? Explain. Do you find it hard or easy to connect with God? Explain.
  2. Zephaniah says that God sings over you. How does that make you feel?  What would be the song you would like God to sing over you?
  3. When they open up that file and pull your file out and slap it down, it will be dripping with the blood of Christ. When they open up the first page, it will say, “holy, spotless, blameless” — not because of you, but because of Christ. “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ.” How does that thought make you feel?
  4. Zephaniah 3:17 reminds us that God is present with us. He is in our midst-a mighty Savior who delights in us and quiets us with his love. The incarnation of Jesus exemplifies God’s desire to be close to his people, to dwell among us and guide us. How is God showing you that he desires to dwell with you?
  5. If we were honest, all of us have a bit of a restless heart, right? How has your heart been restless recently?
