Passage: Matthew 21:1-11
Summary
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Jesus’ earthly ministry leading to His death and resurrection. It’s a day of celebration and honor, as crowds gathered to lay down palm branches and shout, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” (John 12:13). However, as we look closer at this scene, we see a juxtaposition of joy and misunderstanding. While the people celebrated Jesus as their king, they had a limited view of His mission. They wanted a conquering king, but Jesus came as a humble servant, fulfilling God’s ultimate plan of salvation.
