Passage: 1 Corinthians 7:1-8

Summary

In this chapter, Paul talks about how marriage and singleness are BOTH gifts, and how God has a plan for both.

Sermon Questions
  1. Why do you think that singleness is a hard concept for us to truly embrace?
  2. What is the difference between Biblical singleness and the no-commit singleness the world embraces?
  3. We have said that both marriage and singleness is a gift. Explain the beauty of both being married and being single given the context of this chapter.
  4. "If you are single, you have the gift of singleness. At least for the moment. How do I know? Because you are single. And God will empower you to do it well.” Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Explain.
  5. “Marriage is temporary, but what it stands for lasts forever… Christ and the church—at which point marriage fades away. It becomes unnecessary, the way you no longer need a picture of someone when you finally see them face to face.” (~ John Piper) Explain what you think that statement means.
