Passage: 2 Samuel

Summary

Our decisions have massive impact on those around us, and that’s what we’re going to see today in 2 Sam 13–21. David’s sin affected more than just him. Now, let me give you a little warning: Today’s message is one of those ones that probably needs a lot of emotional padding. It’s about the scars of sin.

Sermon Questions
  1. We reap what we sow. How has that played out in your own life?
  2. David is angry over Manon’s sin with Tamar but did nothing about it.  Why is passivity such a problem with men?
  3. Absalom betrays his father much like David betrayed Israel, yet David pleads for his life. Why does David not want to see Absalom punished?
  4. Sin is deadly serious. How do you break the cycle of sin?
  5. Because Jesus has broken the curse of sin, he can inject grace where previously there were only repeating cycles of sin. How is that statement good news for all of us?
